📢Attention Goodrich ISD Families A new state law (House Bill 1481) requires all Texas school districts to adopt rules limiting student use of personal communication devices during school hours. 📵Here’s what this means for Goodrich ISD: Beginning August 13, 2025, students will no longer be allowed to use personal devices such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, handheld gaming systems, and similar electronics while at school during the instructional day. There will be important exceptions for: ✅ Students with IEP or 504 accommodations ✅ Documented medical requirements ✅ Safety or emergency-related situations ✅ District-provided technology for learning purposes What’s next? Goodrich ISD is currently awaiting detailed guidance from the state. Once received, we will finalize our district guidance and share: • Clear rules and expectations • Device storage guidelines and procedures The goal is to support a safe, distraction-free learning environment for every student, while being mindful of individual needs.
